Safety Harness Training


This safety harness training course is a half day theoretical module; It is aimed at any workers or managers involved in any aspects of work at height and harness use requiring a level of knowledge and competence. Up to 15 delegates can be trained per session.

The content includes:

  • Legislation (HSWA 1974, Work at Height Regulations 2005, BS:8437)
  • Methods of Work at Height in a Safety Harness (Work Restraint, Work Position, Fall Arrest)
  • Planning of a Work at Height Task
  • Correct use of a Safety Harness for Specific Tasks
  • Requirements for storage and inspection of safety harnesses and associated equipment
  • Risk Assessment and Method Statements for Safe Work at Height

This then leads on to Selection, Safe use, Correct Fitting and Pre use inspection of:

  • Harnesses
  • Lanyards
  • Fall Arrest Blocks
  • Work Restraint Systems
  • Work Position Systems
  • Horizontal Lines
  • Connectors
  • Anchor Points

On successful completion of this training course, all delegates will be issued with an ID card and certificate valid for 3 years.
