Overhead Crane Training

This module is a half day practical course normally run in conjunction with a Lifting and Slinging Training (Theory) course which is a pre-requisite to practical training. It is aimed at any persons who will be practically using an overhead pendant or gantry crane at work. Up to 10 delegates can be trained per session.

Delegates are assessed on their ability to be able to: conduct a pre use inspection of an overhead crane and safely operate an overhead crane.

The course also qualifies users to conduct lifting and slinging operations below the hook of the crane enabling delegates to: plan a safe lift, assess the load, identify suitable equipment to be used and practically sling and lift an object. Various lifting samples (loads) will be used and lifting equipment to include:

  • Synthetic Slings
  • Chain Slings
  • Wire Rope
  • Eyebolts
  • Shackles
  • Hooks
  • Chain Hoists
This training can only be conducted on your site and an overhead crane must be made available for training.
